The Rookie Wall

One of the main criticisms going into this season with such a young roster was that they would start strong and then hit the inevitable rookie wall which would hinder their chances at making real progress up the standings.

The House Shanahan Built

Very decisively Shanahan set out to reshape this organization and the fruits of his labor were on showcase last night. The game was pivotal on a couple of fronts, it gave the Maple Leafs the opportunity to give themselves some breathing room between them and the Islanders/Lightning who were both on the Maple Leafs heals for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Player Profile: Zach Hyman

Zach Hyman has come a long way in such a short period of time, a relative unknown to the Toronto hockey market when he was acquired from the Florida Panthers on June 19th, 2015 in exchange for centre Greg McKegg; four days later was signed to a two-year entry level contract with the Maple Leafs. Florida had drafted Hyman 123rd overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
